What would you like to know?
What is Femoroacetabular Impingement?
Femoroacetabular impingement or FAI occurs when an extra bone starts growing in either one or both bones that form the hip joint, which gives these bones an irregular shape.
What are the causes of Femoroacetabular Impingement?
This condition may be caused due to certain factors such as:
- A differently shaped or deformed femoral head.
- Hip bones do not form normally resulting in a deformity.
- The hip socket sometimes covers a larger part of the femoral head than usual.
- Athletic activities may also cause this condition.
