Bronchoscopic repair of subglottic stenosis (secondary to granulomatosis with polyangiitis)
A 53-year-old female was diagnosed with granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) in 2009.
Diagnosis & Treatment
The patient presented with stridor that was caused due to an obstructed airway resulting from subglottic stenosis (SGS) secondary to GPA. She was treated through the bronchoscopic repair of SGS – balloon dilation to stretch out the narrowed area, electro-surgery knife to dilate and incise stenotic (constricted) segments, and intralesional corticosteroids to regulate healing.Â
During the one-month follow-up, the patient was doing well.
