Tracheal stenosis is a term that refers to an abnormal narrowing of the trachea that affects normal breathing. A bronchoscopy allows medical professionals to inspect the lungs and airways. Typically, a pulmonologist does it (doctor who specialises in lung problems). During bronchoscopy, a small tube (known as a bronchoscope) is passed via the nose or mouth, down the throat, and into the lungs in order to examine the lungs and airways.
The patient’s extended intubation in the intensive care unit led to breathing difficulties due to tracheal stenosis. Bronchoscopic tracheal dilation entails widening the airway using a balloon or medical devices called tracheal dilators. In addition to relieving symptoms, it enables specialists to assess how much of the trachea is impacted by the stenosis. If the source of the stenosis is unknown, doctors can determine it during the dilation procedure.
Miss Kapota Arnet from Zambia, underwent a Complete Tracheal Stenosis Repair, under the supervision of Dr. Hari Kishan Gonuguntla, Consultant Interventional Pulmonologist, Yashoda Hospitals, Hyderabad.
